Who is
Safecity Training Academy? What accreditations do you hold? Safecity is an
RTO (Registered Training Organisation Registration Number 1367). We are registered with the Australian Capital Territory Registration Council and also with VETAB and all the other Department of Education and Training Authorities in Australia by mutual recognition. You can see our approval status on the Australian National Training Authority (ANTA) National Training Information Service ( NTIS ). You can also see the list of the courses we are accredited to conduct. The Academy is also approved by State Police to conduct approved courses in NSW, Victoria, ACT, Western Australia and Tasmania. Registered visitors and students can view our Company Profile and staff qualifications. |
Who will recognise my qualifications? Under the Australian Qualification Framework, your certificates will be recognised nationally by employers and other RTOs (Registered Training Organisations); typically these include Universities and Technical Colleges.
What is this symbol?
![]() |
This is the Nationally Recognised Training symbol that will appear on your certificate . It is the symbol of the Australian National Training Authority (ANTA) who regulate all Nationally Recognised Training. Only Registered Training Organisations conducting approved courses are authorised to release certificates bearing this symbol. |
I do not live in Australia who will
recognise my qualifications?
Safecity is currently negotiating arrangements with several International Government Approved Training Providers to arrange for mutual recognition for some of our training programs.
We intend to expand the Network to all other countries. However, we must be careful to deal only with reputable and Government Accredited Training Providers.
Traditionally, employers and other reputable training providers will accept qualifications from a Government approved provider of another country --however they do not have to do so, and can refuse recognition.
What courses are available? There are three types of courses we will provide by distance education.
- Workplace Training. These are nationally recognised courses for experienced or aspiring trainers. The Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training has now become the standard qualification for persons conducting vocational training for government, educational institutions and corporate bodies.
- Security Training. These are aimed at experienced security professionals wishing to achieve nationally recognised qualifications and expand their skills in risk management and security management. The Certificate IV in Security and Risk Management is the required qualification for security consultants in NSW.
Why do you not offer the
Certificate II and III in Security by distance education?
The Certificate II and III in Security (Guarding) is
an entry level
course. We believe that persons entering the
industry benefit from face to face training and extensive role plays involving
important tactical and workplace related issues .
We know, by experience, that classroom work also helps the students improve their communication skills, raise self-esteem and develop a team spirit. These qualities are difficult to develop and assess in a home study environment. We know there are some training organizations who disagree with us and conduct these programs on a mass scale. You will need to make your choice based on your own professional needs.
The entry level courses for cleaning are also difficult to conduct by open learning because they are equipment intensive .
Courses which include the Certificate III, IV and Diploma are intended for persons who already have considerable experience in the industry and are ideal for delivery via distance education.
Do you conduct standard
face to face training?
Yes, we have been delivering Nationally Recognised Courses for since 1996
throughout Australia. Please visit
Safecity Training Academy Site for more information.
I prefer completing
some units via face-to-face and others by open learning.
In some cases this may be arranged. All the courses are offered in modules and
you can complete the modules by distance education or face to face depending on
class availability. You will find the that the training material you receive
from Safecity's Open Learning service will be all that you need to successfully
complete your course .
What training materials
will I use?
When you enrol in our program you will receive all of your initial training
material in print form by post. This is because our training manuals are
extensive and rather large. We are good Internet Citizens and do not want to
overload our server and the Internet to save a few dollars. Our students would
also find it difficult to print such large volumes of material.
We will also set up your password and user name so all you have to do is click a link and access the services.
Any subsequent training materials which are small and compact can be sent via E-mail.
How will you identify me?
As with all good things, I expect a few unfortunate people will try to obtain certificates by fraud. We have a responsibility to ARC, VETAB, the public and to our customers to make sure our certificate are awarded only to legitimate students who have achieve competency. I will need your help to protect the integrity of your course. This is how we propose to protect the integrity of the programs:
How will you assess me?
Each course has its own requirements and assessment activities, however, they will generally be in the form of assignments and projects. Some courses require a video presentation or other major project.
What are the prerequisites?
I do not have formal school qualifications. Competency Based Training is available to anyone who is able to read and write . Australia is a pioneer in the provision of adult education.
We are proud to be part of a system which
enables anyone to study and improve their qualifications. If you have
difficulties with literacy, we can help you. We will support you and
deliver your course when you are able to read and write to the appropriate level
(Year 10 or equivalent).
If you know of a friend or relative who is unable to read or write, reassure
them and explain to them they should not feel ashamed. There are many people
young and old, and even school graduates who are unable to read or have poor
spelling skills.
We can help your friend achieve literacy and numerary. Send us an
E-mail and we will tell you how.
I have not studied for many years and am concerned I will not make the grade.
If you are prepared to read your assignments and complete the required activities--you should be able to complete the program successfully. It is our job to make sure you do--but you must work with us by studying and completing your assignments.
What happens if I fail?
Our courses are competency based. There are no failures. You work on each unit until you master it. Some students take longer to achieve competency, and some need extra support. Distance education is excellent for this purpose--there are no deadlines! Safecity offers the level of support you need in order to help you as much as we can.
I do not have regular access to the Internet.
We can send you the study sessions by mail and communicate with you that way. It is a little slower but it works. Nowadays you can get free Internet connections in most capital cities of the world.
I would like to become a training delivery staff member.
All training delivery staff members must have completed the Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training. You can complete this course by distance education. We also ask that you must have a positive, friendly and helpful disposition--above all you must like helping people.
I would like to invest in the Network and set up a Network of my own.
We can help you and advise you how to achieve
Registered Training Provider Status in Australia. If you live outside Australia
we can assist you set up a professional training organisation and help you
achieve the high standards set for Australian Registered Training Organisations.
Safecity will charge you a setting up fee to use our Internet Network and
Training Resources.
Fees vary in accordance with the requirements and the location of the would be
training organisation. In Australia, if you wish to establish a
professional training organisation you should set a budget of at least A$50,000.
Our setting up fees generally represent 20% of the overall cost. If you
wish us to provide you with training materials and curriculum, our fees will be
higher.
